Seeking a Mentor-Happy to assist in Exchange for Experience

Hello everyone,

I recently joined GNA and had the opportunity to complete onboarding with AnnMarie. She encouraged me to reach out to this wonderful community to see if there might be an experienced advocate interested in mentoring or allowing me to observe their practice as I continue to grow professionally.

I recently launched DJB Advocacy LLC in Cincinnati, Ohio. My background is somewhat unique, having survived 17 documented recurrences of MRSA spinal infection and spending more than 200 days hospitalized. Those experiences ultimately led me to patient advocacy.

I believe my strengths include building strong relationships with patients and families, in-person advocacy, organization, documentation, case management support, and detailed paperwork. I enjoy learning from experienced professionals and am always looking for ways to improve my skills.

If an experienced advocate would be willing to let me observe, assist, or collaborate on appropriate cases as a learning experience, I would be very grateful for the opportunity. My goal is to learn from those who have been doing this successfully while contributing wherever I can.

If you’d like to know more about my background, my GNA profile is available, and I’d be happy to connect.

Thank you, and I look forward to getting to know more of you.

So glad to see you asking this, John.

I might suggest a slight reword to your title to make it clear you are offering to provide assistance to the advocate at no cost in turn for your experiential learning.
