What insurance do you carry for your advocacy practice?
Hi everyone,
I’m starting a fully virtual health research and advocacy practice (Osér Clair), working with clients across the US (no clinical care). I’m shopping for insurance and would love to hear what’s working for you.
If you’re open to sharing:
- Which carrier or broker do you use?
- What coverage do you carry (professional liability, general liability, cyber), and at what limits and deductible?
- Does your professional liability cover bodily injury claims tied to your services (for example, a client says they were harmed after acting on your research)? The quote I received excludes this, so I’m especially curious.
- What category did the insurer put your work in?
- Roughly what do you pay per year?
- Are there any carriers that turned you down, or that you’d steer clear of?
A ballpark is perfect, and feel free to message me directly if you’d rather not share numbers here. I’m happy to put together a summary of what I learn for the group.
Thank so much!
Lola
Best of luck to you!
Are there any specifics that you would encourage a new advocate to tell Hiscox when they call? Are there specific insurance types or anything?
Jenny's recommendation of Dennis Bernstein (dennis.bernstein@piascins.com) was a huge help and I'd recommend people connect with him if they are in the market for an insurance broker.
Thanks again for everyone's insight!
